Soprano Katie Erb is an emerging artist in the Portland area. Grounded in classical training, Katie has performed a variety of genres including classical, jazz, musical theater, and pop. She has a passion for helping students find their unique voice, laying a foundation of solid technique. She is inspired by the bel canto tradition, Alexander technique, Laban movement, and body mapping. She loves to witness students’ “aha” moments of learning to sing more confidently! She is also passionate about teaching foundational piano skills, music theory, and sight reading/singing.

Katie received her undergraduate degree from George Fox University in Music Industry while studying classical voice under Maggie Daane. At George Fox, she performed as a soloist with the concert choir, jazz ensemble, and athletics department as a national anthem singer. She played Charlotte/Matron in Oliver! the musical. She was a featured soloist with the orchestra for Handel’s Messiah and sang the role of Mabel in the Pirates of Penzance

She is currently pursuing her master’s in vocal performance (classical) at Portland State University studying with Christine Meadows. At Portland State, she played the leading role of Maxie in the West Coast Premiere of Jodi Goble’s new opera The Eleanor’s. She has also studied the role of Despina in Mozart’s Cosi an tutte
