Katie has been singing since she was very young but did not discover classical voice until college. She began singing at 13 in a small ensemble that performed in senior homes and malls. She led worship for her church all through high school.
After studying with Maggie Daane in college, prominent soprano in the Portland area, she fell in love with opera and the Western canon. She also immersed herself in any performance opportunities that came her way, from national anthems for football games to solos with the jazz ensemble and more. Katie is also a gifted songwriter and has performed her originals in Nashville bars and venues. She received her BA in music (voice) from George Fox University in 2024.
In between finishing her undergrad, she started her own voice studio in Central Washington, securing over 17 students ages 8-35 within the first month of opening. She organized a culminating recital, giving students to perform music from a variety of genres. Through this experience she discovered her love for teaching.
